Hawk Mazzotta to ride in Mazda Raceway U.S. Grand Prix

Hawk Mazzotta, a Carmel Valley professional motorcycle racer will be riding in Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway 2010 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix on July 23rd, 24th & 25th, along with Monterey Challenge, set for July 23rd benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.
The 27 year old Carmel Valley, AMA super bike racer and recent MPC fire-fighting graduate will be riding this year for over 100,000+ expected fans and two million viewers on a Yamaha R1 1000, riding for "Ace Racing.“ Hawk, a local favorite, who was named after his father‘s Red-Tailed Hawk Cassidy. He began riding at the ripe age of three on his families cattle ranch in Northern California. He claims his parents had a hard time getting him off his three wheeler and even has photos of him sleeping on the bike. Riding has always felt natural to him. At the age of eleven, Hawk and his family moved to Carmel Valley where his father had signed him up for a track day, at Laguna Seca. "An instructor geared me up in leathers and took me for a couple of laps around the track. I was hooked," Hawk claims.
Hawk’s name was one of the thirty-five (35) names pulled from a list of more than three hundred (300) riders from all over the nation to ride in July 23rds Monterey Challenge (www.montereychallenge.com). At four hundred dollars per rider, the proceeds will be benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). This is the first year in Mazda Raceway history that this incredible charity event will be done, thanks to the efforts of Jim Doyle, a veteran AMA Pro racer.
“Although Hawk is coming in as a last minute rider, he is confident that he has a chance of pulling off a top ten position this year, as he is in top shape, with a regimented training schedule, which includes a 40-50+ mile bicycling routine, a little swimming and a lot of flat track riding practice,”, says Tanya Moore (Hawk’s Publicist).
Last year, Hawk pulled off an impressive finish, placing thirteenth (13th) in the AMA Superbike series riding on a Suzuki GSXR 1000. This year, he could very well impress the crowd and be a top contender in 2010 Grand Prix Challenge. We are hoping to see him up on the podium showing off his winning smile for a victory-celebration. Best of luck Hawk!
